Overtown Urban Night Photoshoot

Me and Lawrence go back – we collaborated through a mutual connection on an urban farming project and through that were already familiar with Overtown. The historical district is still coming out of the worst of it infrastructurally, and the street we decided to shoot by now boasts an educational and business-centred building (The Space Called Tribe) that aims to galvanize local black-owned businesses around this area.

I’ve visited here frequently because of this one centre, and always noticed the many characters that you can find walking around aimlessly or not around this 4-way intersection. We decided to reenact the vibes that we would usually see in this area and came out with some of the resulting shots. Muva was an excellent model that I loved working with, and Lawrence is actually a very capable designer – who was able to provide most of the fits. We think that these are some of the looks that you might find in Overtown next time you’re there.
